Sourcing the data for the posts on Across the Timeline is the most important step. There is not one comprehensive source to pull from, so this page serves as a living, growing repository for women’s basketball data sources.
Note: Across the Timeline is in no way affiliated with or sponsored by any of the following entities.
Basketball Reference is one of several sites under the “Sports References” umbrella. Started in April 2004, Basketball Reference has a number of player and team statistics and background information available for all 12 WNBA teams.
|Her Hoop Stats
Her Hoop Stats provides detailed and advanced statistics for women’s basketball. Access to the full database requires an annual subscription, but they also frequently post interesting notes on Twitter @herhoopstats.
|NCAA Women’s Basketball Records Books
The NCAA records books are available by season and by division. The latest records are not available during a season or even immediately thereafter, but the records for the prior year are comprehensive and easily searchable.
|WNBA Draft Boards
The historical WNBA Draft boards are still available on the WNBA’s website:
|EuroBasket Players Database
Many players who cannot be found in the other player databases can frequently be found in the EuroBasket database from their time playing in Europe. This includes many players who may not have played prominently in the WNBA.
|High Post Hoops WNBA Salary Database
Finding details on player contracts and salaries is not easy, but High Post Hoops has compiled a comprehensive summary of each team in the WNBA to provide as much info as possible.
